Sign me up for Summer School

I need help. I need to sign up for Summer School (with Chainsaw and Dave. . ."Please take your seats. . .Where shall we take 'em?" and say it with me Lisa, "I'm Chainsaw, and I'm Dave and we'll see you, at the movies. . .) I felt like I was losing my mind for a second during sacrament meeting this morning. No, it wasn't an embarassing testimony meeting, my oldest asked me for some help writing cursive. She's at the age that she thinks writing cursive is so cool. So she asked me to help her write a letter to her teacher. She wanted to say I like you. I swear I had a total brain lapse and could not for the life of me rememeber how to make a cursive Capital "I". Seriously. What was wrong with my brain? It was not working correctly. It took me several doodles on the page before I remembered. Oh my goodness, Mrs. Claussen would be so upset. I can see in my head the border above the chalkboard with the scripted letters. . .the horror of learning the cursive letters was all coming back. I guess it's been quite a while since I've used my penmanship skills. I tested my knowledge and grabbed a paper from her bag and tried out all the letters. I had the most trouble with I, Q, and Z. It took Matt and I together to remember the Z. Matt got it right. Has my brain gone to so much mush that I can't even remember my basic writing skills? So, I'm signing up for remedial penmanship. Anyone join me? Here, click this and sharpen up your favorite #2 pencil to get started.

I've always been a big fan of "D" and "G". "Q" can go to you know where for all I'm concerned! Who came up with that one, anyway?

btw-I love that movie! Mark Harmon. Mmmm. And who knew that Courtney Thorne-Smith would turn out into the fabulous actress that she is today? :)

Too funny. This seriously got me thinking my way through the cursive alphabet and I couldn't remember how to do Q or X. What's up with the Q anyways... it looks like a 2!

I love cursive. Curiously, my cursive writing is nearly indistinguishable from my father's. I've written something down before and then surprised myself wondering why my dad wrote my grocery list.

I was always jealous of Tracy Allred's cursive, her writing looked exactly like the book.

Why? Why would you make a Q look like a 2? Who thought of that? I never got that one, either. There are a few of those capitals I just refused to use because they seemed so odd. I was livin on the edge even in 2nd grade!

Ahhhh.....Summer School. The movie where I learned my first bad word. I used it on my sister right in front of my parents and got in BIG trouble. Hey, I was a kid and I didn't know what it meant. In fact, I really didn't know what it meant until I asked Ryan one day.

I loved the letter! it's hanging on my fridge...............thanks Maddy!

I just read in today's paper that there is a penmanship contest! There's a division for ages 17-49, 50+, and also various kids divisions. Check it out!

Remember in "Billy Madison", when he was in (I think) 3rd grade and he has to go up to the chalkboard to write, in cursive: buzz? That's so funny...

Who knew that "Vern", would grow up to be such a Crossing Jordan hottie?

"Vern, that's not the secret knock Vern."

"7 cents Vern? I haven't found my pennies yet."
