We're off. . .

Well, the Pity party went fantastically well! The ward activity was a total success, kids and adults had a great time and "The Singing Bee" was a hit. I know I will use that program again. The Roadshow is coming together and the best part is that in 2 weeks it will all be over! Yeah! The t-shirts I made for our upcoming Grandpa Camp arrived, and just in time. .

Tomorrow night we are getting a hotel in Omaha to prepare for our flight early Tuesday morning to LA. I think we're going to cruise around Hollywood and hit the beach until we can get into our hotel that afternoon, then it's 4 days of complete craziness. The best part is that this is one vacation where the children have no choice but fall right to sleep. . .they are so exhausted!! I'll take lots of pictures. . .and post when I'm back! Have a great week!!

I'm Activities Chair in my ward and was wondering how you did the "Singing Bee" in your ward. That sounds like a lot of fun.

Have fun in California!

Lucky!! Have so much fun at Grandpa camp. I used to be a Disney poop. I didn't get it. Then we moved to California and had kids. It is AWESOME!! I will tell you that doing at least one character mean (for you, the Princess Lunch at Ariels Grotto in California Adventure..) is worth the money b/c you get to see ALL the charachters you want, you don't stand in line and they have time to talk, take pictures, etc. So worth the money (and it is some of the best food you will get there too...) You need to reserve it, but it is a slow time of year.

It is also SO GREAT to have it decorated for Halloween. Check out the Meat skewers at the place across from the Jungle Cruise and the pasta at the Pizza Port by Space MOuntian...lots of room for the kids to run around while you eat..

can't wait to hear the details...

Cari--it was kind of time consuming but it worked out great. I used a powerpoint presentation for it. I copy and pasted lyrics for songs (usually just the first little bit, then left some blanks for them to fill in), on the next slide I copied it again but had all of the words. On Powerpoint you can also import music/sound from a file, so I downloaded karaoke cd's that I borrowed and got from the library and added them to the slides. It was nice to also have a list of songs for people to pick from, most were not willing to just sing whatever came up.

Bek--we are absolutely doing the Ariels grotto lunch (Mom's and girls)--we told the boys they could do the "Jedi training" while we were gone! We're also signed up to do breakfast with "Minnie and Friends" for one of the days. When we did Disneyworld those were BY FAR the best places to see the characters. I'm hoping it's a slow time anyway and the lines won't be crazy.

Thanks for the tips on the food! I'll have a churro for you too!

Found you through La Yen. You still have ROADSHOWS?!!! I am so jealous. Where do you live, because I am SO MOVING THERE.

Sue, this is the first time we've done roadshows since I was 12 or 13! So I was surprised when they called me to be in charge of our ward. It's this weekend, so we'll see how well the night goes if they decide to do it again. . .it may be another 20 years!!
