A little annoyed. . .

So, we headed back from Baltimore (Blog and pictures coming soon!!) just a couple of days after the terrorist arrests in the UK. Not only did we have to be at the BWI airport 2 hours early (Hello. . .that's like 4:45 in the AM!!), but Matt's grandparents live about 45 minutes away and we had to return the car too! I was all prepared to be an hour early but TWO?

Ok, I'm happy and fine doing what I need to to be safe!! I'll even pack all liquids in my checked bags. . .even lipgloss, and baby Tylenol ("No medication without a prescription") and even (this was a stretch!) Whitney's gas drops--we call her Toots around here. I even had the gas drops in my pocket for a last minute dose, but I forgot to throw it in the checked baggage so I had tossed it in the garbage before we got to security!! We dumped all waterbottles and even emptied Whitney's sippy cup.

Here's where it gets annoying--there were announcements over the speakers about the no-liquid rules but no one even asked me if I had any in my carry on, and no one searched through my bag. . .HEY, SOMEONE GET OVER HERE AND CHECK MY BAG TO SEE HOW COMPLIANT I AM BEING. thank you.

The same thing happened to us but in reverse. My husband always carries his pocket knife on his key chain. And EVERY time we travel, he always forgets to leave it in the car and security takes it. After about the 5th time of buying a new pocket knife, I told him I would put it in my purse and see what happens.

Security didn't find it!! I was secretly hoping they would just so I would have more faith in the new system and all the people hired to make it happen.

Okay, now you all know what a horrible person I am... that I would bring a pocket knife onto a plane....

Utah is much nicer; they let you mail your stuff back. I got to mail back some cuticle scissors.

My in-laws flew out of Richmond, VA about three weeks ago and they had to throw away so much stuff. Even a new bottle of perfume she bought out here. We didn't even hear about that, "no liquids" thing till after they got home and told us.

This is me said...

My brother was on business in NYC (from Boise) when the new terrorist scare happened. It really delayed his flights and he had to stop half-way home to spend the night before finishing his trip. I think New York is the worst place to be when something like that happens. My other brother was on his way to Singapore and I guess, internationally, it was a nightmare as well.
But, I'm with you. If I sticking with all the rules, I want some recognition for it.

I was glad we were at least a couple of days into the restrictions so things did run smooth. . .I didn't really need the recognition. . I'm fine obeying the rules so we can be safe, I was a little annoyed that no one was asking anyone other than being reminded over the speakers. . .I did see ONE person get their bag randomly checked but that was it.
